9 Best Cardiology Centers and Heart Hospitals in Bangkok

Nine Bangkok heart centers compared on published diagnostics, catheterization and electrophysiology labs, surgical scope, opening hours and location.

Bangkok, ThailandReviewed 9 providers

Most people in Bangkok meet cardiology sideways: a flagged result on an annual check-up, an insurer asking for a stress test, chest tightness that will not settle on the walk from the BTS. The gap between an outpatient heart clinic and a hospital running its own catheterization laboratory stays invisible until an artery has to be opened the same night. All nine hospitals below publish heart services; what differs is the depth behind them, taken here from their own center pages: diagnostics, cath and electrophysiology labs, surgery and cardiac rehabilitation.

How the nine were chosen

Only Bangkok hospitals publishing a named cardiology or heart center qualified, not general internal medicine clinics that happen to manage blood pressure. Each was checked for stated diagnostic range, whether a catheterization laboratory is documented, and where the center physically sits inside the hospital. Wellness centers selling cardiac screening packages without a cardiologist were left out, and screening-only imaging providers were treated as diagnostics rather than care. Our full review approach lives at how we review clinics.

The heart centers, service by service

1Bangkok Hospital (Headquarters)

Bangkok Hospital (Headquarters)

Bangkok Hospital treats cardiology as a hospital in its own right, with Bangkok Heart Hospital standing on the Soonvijai campus. Its cardiology clinic works from the first floor every day between 07:00 and 16:00, and lists general heart clinics next to named arrhythmia, vascular, heart failure, anticoagulation, preventive and cardiac rehabilitation clinics, with echocardiography, EKG, stress echo and exercise stress testing on site. Cardiothoracic surgery sits in the same hospital. The clinic shuts at four, so establish which named clinic your referral is addressed to and book accordingly.

2Bumrungrad International Hospital

Bumrungrad International Hospital

Bumrungrad International Hospital builds its Heart Institute, on the 14th floor of Building A, around seven areas of care: coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, heart failure, structural heart disease, congenital conditions, prevention, and cardiogenetics, a category few other centers on this list name at all. Published procedures reach from coronary angiography and angioplasty through pacemaker implantation and electrophysiology studies to TAVI. Its own line answers between 08:00 and 18:00, the hospital line overnight. The institute advises rechecking service hours before traveling in, and that is worth doing rather than assuming.

3MedPark Hospital

MedPark Hospital

MedPark Hospital places its Cardiology Center on the 8th floor at Counter D, open 08:00 to 20:00, staffed across cardiovascular medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, pediatric cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, dietetics and cardiovascular nursing. The published hardware is unusually specific: hybrid operating rooms fitted with a biplane angiography system, allowing catheter work and open surgery in one room. Families needing a pediatric cardiology opinion will find it named here, which is not the case everywhere on this page. When booking a child, check the appointment is with the pediatric cardiologist rather than a general adult session.

4Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital

Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital

Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital documents its Heart Center unit by unit: outpatient consultation, a noninvasive investigation laboratory, a cardiac catheterization laboratory with biplane DSA, an electrophysiology laboratory, an operating theater, a cardiac intensive care unit, telemetry monitoring and a cardiac rehabilitation unit, with MRI and a 640-slice CT scanner behind them. At Sukhumvit it occupies Building 1, first floor, open daily 07:00 to 18:00. The same page also covers the Srinakarin campus, so name the site you mean when you telephone 02-022-8110.

5Vejthani Hospital

Vejthani Hospital

Vejthani Hospital itemizes its Cardiac Center more fully than most, from the 5th floor, open every day 07:00 to 20:00. Non-invasive testing covers Holter monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure, transesophageal and dobutamine stress echocardiography and ankle-brachial index measurement; the catheterization laboratory lists angiography, stenting, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, ablation, septal defect closure and mitral balloon valvuloplasty. Having that range on the eastern side of the city saves a cross-town transfer. The page describes procedures without describing admission, so ask which ones involve an overnight stay.

6BNH Hospital

BNH Hospital

BNH Hospital groups heart care with kidney and metabolic medicine in a Cardiovascular Kidney Metabolic Centre on the fourth floor, open 07:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and 07:00 to 16:00 at weekends and public holidays. Published diagnostics include resting EKG, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, exercise and dobutamine stress testing, tilt table testing, Holter and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and a 64-slice CT. Two entries stand out: a chest pain pathway and a home and hotel call-out service. No catheterization laboratory is described, so ask where BNH refers cases that need one.

7Phyathai 2 Hospital

Phyathai 2 Hospital

Phyathai 2 Hospital makes its published case about timing rather than equipment lists. Its Heart Center states that the catheterization laboratory operates 24/7, supported by a hybrid operating room, a mobile coronary care unit and a heart hotline, with an aortic aneurysm service named separately and coverage described for adults and children, medical and surgical. Neither floor nor outpatient hours appear on the page, only that laboratory wording and the number 02-617-2444, so telephone to fix a clinic time instead of arriving unannounced.

8Praram 9 Hospital

Praram 9 Hospital

Praram 9 Hospital states outright that its Cardiovascular Institute has 31 cardiologists available 24 hours a day, working from the third floor of Building A, open daily 07:00 to 20:00. Diagnostics run to calcium scoring, CT angiography, cardiac MRI and VO2 max testing; treatment covers angioplasty, ablation, pacemakers, bypass and valve surgery, TAVI and mitral valve clipping, plus cardiac rehabilitation. Patients already using this hospital for kidney care get heart and renal follow-up at one address. Worth asking how soon a first cardiology appointment can realistically be given.

9Sikarin Hospital

Sikarin Hospital

Sikarin Hospital runs a Cardiac Institute from Building 3, first floor, open daily 08:00 to 20:00 and reachable on 1728. Its published scope covers Holter recording over 24 to 72 hours, coronary CT and cardiac MRI, angiography with catheterization, balloon angioplasty and stenting, rotablation for chronically narrowed arteries, fractional flow reserve and intravascular ultrasound, along with bypass and valve surgery and radiofrequency ablation. A full interventional list for the Bang Na side of Bangkok. It is all documented in Thai, so arrange language help before any consultation about a procedure.

How to choose a cardiology center in Bangkok

Choosing a cardiology center or heart hospital in Bangkok is not a decision you should base on rankings alone. Before booking a consultation or a diagnostic package, take a few minutes to confirm what the facility can actually do on-site, since capability varies widely even among well-regarded hospitals. Ask directly whether the center performs diagnostic and interventional procedures in-house, such as echocardiograms, stress testing, CT coronary angiography, catheterization, and angioplasty.

It is also worth asking about the specific sub-specialty of the cardiologist you would be seeing, rather than assuming that any cardiologist is equipped to handle your situation. If you already have a diagnosis or a referral letter, bring it with you and ask the clinic to confirm, before your appointment, that the doctor you are scheduled to see actually treats that particular condition.

Finally, ask about emergency response capability, especially if you have a known heart condition. Find out whether the facility has a cardiac catheterization lab available around the clock, whether an on-call interventional cardiologist can be reached outside normal hours.

If your search is not limited to Bangkok, or you simply want to see what other options exist around the country before deciding, you may find it useful to look at the nationwide listing of cardiology centers.
